Allison & Ryan Prove That Even a Rainy Glacier Wedding is Perfect

“It’s like rain on your wedding day…” These famous lyrics by Alanis Morissette seem to ring in couples’ heads as they plan their Glacier wedding or elopement. As with any outdoor wedding, it’s nerve-wracking to depend on the weather and not know what it’s going to do on your big day. As your go-to Montana wedding planner, we talk through the possibility of inclement weather with you and ensure that there is always a suitable Plan B. Sometimes, our couples have even found that they loved their Plan B more than Plan A!

One of our epic couples, Allison and Ryan, had their Glacier wedding at Sun Poin, and it actually did end up raining on their wedding day. However, they made the most of it by getting married amongst the raindrops and mountaintops. They didn’t let a little rain keep them from having their perfect day!

Their Glacier wedding story is a great example of what it means to do your wedding your way and not let anything get you down. After all, it’s all about getting married to your best friend!

Are you An Epic Elopement Couple?

Here at An Epic Elopement , we specialize in creating adventure elopements and intimate weddings that are true to who you are as a couple! We encourage you to think outside the box when it comes to your wedding vision and celebrate your unique preferences and personalities. For some couples, having their epic elopement means tying the knot with a handful of their closest people in a Glacier wedding. For others, it means eloping with just the two of them on a mountaintop.

No matter what you envision for your Montana or Glacier wedding, our team is excited and ready to help make it happen! There are no cookie cutter weddings here, just like there are no cookie cutter couples! While all of our beautiful couples have different visions, personalities, and tastes, there are a few key things they have in common:

1.     They’re Adventure-Seekers.

Many of our couples flock to Montana to seek adventure and epic views! They love the unique landscapes that a Glacier wedding has to offer, from the park’s sparkling lakes to the lush forestry to the snow-covered mountains to the wildflower meadows. You’ll often catch our brides donning hiking boots or sneakers under their wedding dresses and they’re not afraid to get a little dirty on their trek!

2.     They Follow their Hearts.

While it can be difficult to step outside of convention, our couples know that their wedding day can and should be true to who they are. Take Allison and Ryan for example. During the planning process, they worried that having an elopement with just the two of them was the “right” choice. After the wedding though, Allison told us that “once the day finally came, I felt a sense of peace and knew it was exactly what I wanted.”

She even offers this advice for engaged couples planning their wedding:

“Whatever you end up doing, whether it's an elopement, a micro-wedding, or a large traditional wedding, just make sure it feels true to you and your partner. I am a strong believer that a wedding should be reflective of the couple and their personal style, preference and personality so do what feels best for you two and don't give in to the pressure of what others may want FOR you.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

3.     They Go with the Flow.

Lastly, AEE couples go with the flow and know that what truly matters at the end of their wedding day is that they are married! As Montana and Glacier wedding planners, we can tell you that no wedding day goes off absolutely perfectly. There are always things that need to change, no matter how big or small, on the day-of. We’re pros at handling anything that pops up, even a little rain! We work super hard to make sure that our couples aren’t impacted by any day-of change that needs to happen, but sometimes, that’s inevitable, like inclement weather. While we always have a Plan B ready to go, some couples, like Allison and Ryan, don’t let a few drizzles stop them! And it pays off, every time.

Rainy Glacier Wedding at Sun Point:

Allison and Ryan tied the knot at Sun Point on the day of their dating AND engagement anniversary. We actually think the rain enhanced the vibes of their Glacier wedding by giving them a moody and mystical day with misty clouds rolling in over the mountains. It made the day seem ethereal, like a true fairy tale.

Our owner and lead planner, Katie, not only planned and coordinated this Glacier wedding, but she also officiated it! She led a romantic and authentic wedding ceremony for Allison and Ryan, pronouncing them husband and wife amidst the fog and raindrops.

As soon as they shared their first married kiss on the mountain’s peak, the newlyweds threw their arms in the air in disbelief and celebration. This was literally the moment they had been waiting for, and Allison would tell us later that this was her favorite moment of the entire day. She said:

“Despite being poured on and my dress, veil and hair were completely soaked, Ryan and I were laughing and really soaking it all in - rain included!”

Glacier Wedding Adventure Session:

Something else that our AEE couples have in common is that they love a good adventure session! This is the best way to explore Glacier National Park and capture newlywed photos. What’s better than getting one-on-one time with your new spouse in a completely otherworldly setting?

Post-ceremony, that’s exactly what Allison and Ryan did! They trekked through the mountains, down to the lakeside, and through meadows, soaking up every minute of newly wedded bliss. A Glacier wedding adventure session always produces incredible photos, but the rainy atmosphere brought a whole new element of magic to Allison and Ryan’s gallery. At one point, they were literally sitting on cloud 9! They even got to see a black bear and share a toast with their favorite beer at the end.

A Word from Katie:

“Allison and Ryan, I’ll never forget your Glacier wedding! You guys were such a blast to work with and I’m still honored that you entrusted me with your epic elopement. Best wishes to you for everlasting happiness and love!”

-Katie
