Everything comes alive during this season, creating ethereal backdrops for your wildflower wedding and Glacier adventure session! So it’s no wonder that many of our couples draw inspiration from the Montana landscape for their big days, whether that means having a snowy winter wedding, cozy fall wedding, or in the case of Stephanie and Jon, a summer wildflower wedding.

Their special day was marked by their gorgeous pastel color palette, the personal details woven throughout, and the kind of quality time with their loved ones that only comes with having an intimate wedding.

Their wildflower wedding serves as a perfect example of what it means to take inspiration from something, but then make it your own. In this post, you’ll see the boho twist they put on their Montana wildflower wedding design and marvel at the way this couple maximized their wedding day. Theirs is a one-day timeline that you just may want to steal for your own epic elopement!

Wildflower Wedding Design Details:

Stephane and Jon’s wildflower wedding day started off with our owner and lead planner, Katie, doing her thing and making the magic happen! From conceptualization to planning to execution, Katie ensures that your wedding vision is brought to life, down to every last detail! On this day, she and the vendor team set up two amazing event spaces, where the newlyweds and their guests would celebrate the night away.

This included the ceremony meadow, where they set a wooden A-frame arbor with floral swags at the altar. They also laid out a rust and blue patterned rug, which mirrored the hues of the flowers. With the natural forest trees in the background, this made for a natural and dreamy ceremony spot!

Next, they transformed the reception tent from a blank slate into an airy and magical wildflower wedding scene! They set up 4 wooden farm tables in one long row with a white gauze runner flowing down the center. They scattered various glass bud vases, gold votives and dusty blue taper candles along the runner, creating visual interest and depth with the varying heights and hues.

At each place setting, they set a woven charger plate with tan linen napkin and personalized menu card. With the market lights twinkling overhead, this was the ideal setting to celebrate this couple’s new marriage.

First Look & Glacier Adventure Session:

As Katie and the team set the scene for this wildflower wedding, Stephanie and Jon had their first look. For her big day, Stephanie wore a stunning ivory gown with intricate lace detailing from top to bottom. She wore her hair down in cascading waves and her bridal bouquet was beautifully delicate with petals in various colors, from buttercup to marigold to coral. When Jon saw her for the first time that day, he was visibly emotional and we can understand why!

Afterwards, the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. headed over to Glacier National Park for an adventure session before their wildflower wedding ceremony. One of the perks of getting married at a Montana wedding venue is that many of them are situated just minutes from the entrance to the park! This helps maximize your wedding day by being able to jet over to the park for photos (or even your ceremony!) and then head back to the venue for the reception.

On their wildflower wedding day, Montana and Glacier understood the assignment! The mountains were as magical as ever and the wildflower meadows were in full bloom. The sun also softly lit up the landscape, as if nature was also celebrating Stephanie and Jon’s union!

Stephanie and Jon were able to spend the afternoon of their wedding day exploring Glacier and capturing truly unforgettable portraits. They also took this opportunity to exchange private vows amongst the towering fir trees. Having this moment and space be completely private made it all the more special and sacred. We can’t think of any better place to declare your love for one another!

Wildflower Wedding Ceremony at Great Northern Resort:

Following their time in Glacier, Stephanie and Jon made their way back to Great Northern Resort to officially tie the knot in their wildflower wedding ceremony!

There, their 30 guests awaited them, ready to witness their love. The processional kicked off with Jon walking down the aisle to “Marry Me” by Train. Stephanie then made her way towards the altar to the tune of “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.

Their wildflower wedding ceremony was sweet and sentimental, infused with just the right amounts of lighthearted moments and romantic emotion. By the time their officiant pronounced them husband and wife and they shared their first married kiss, everyone was smiling or happy crying for them. When they walked back up the aisle as official newlyweds, their loved ones showered them with cheers and flower petals. They did it!

Cocktail hour then began with a bang! We invited guests to delight in the custom charcuterie board and open bar while Stephanie and Jon signed their marriage license and took family photos. Live music floated through the air thanks to the Mike Murray duo, consisting of guitar and bass.

As everyone enjoyed themselves, Katie helped bustle Stephanie’s dress, set the wedding cake in place at the reception, and repurposed the ceremony floral to the reception tent. It’s these seemingly simple yet all too important tasks that will make you glad you hired an experienced wedding planner!

An Intimate Wedding Reception:

When it was time for this wildflower wedding reception to begin, Jon started it off with a welcome speech. It’s always nice when the couple gets the chance to thank their guests for coming and celebrating with them, but it was an extra cherry on top when Jon gave a special shoutout to Katie for all her work. Katie never expects a public thank you; she truly loves her couples and the work she does for them, but she was so grateful and touched by the gesture!

Then, dinner was served! Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal of corn gazpacho, Caesar salad, smoked pork belly, and bison tenderloin. One of our favorite moments at a wedding is simply watching everyone enjoy themselves and have a great time. This is the part that makes our job so rewarding: seeing everyone so happy!

Stephanie and Jon then cut their wedding cake, which was a two-tier cake that resembled a birch tree with a “carving” of their initials in the buttercream. The cake was as yummy as it was beautiful! It was a gluten free lemon cake with huckleberry compote and vanilla buttercream. We loved the nod to Montana culture with the huckleberry filling!

During the remainder of the evening, the newlyweds’ family gave heartfelt toasts and everyone reveled in each other’s company and the joy of the day. As the sun set and golden light flooded the tent, we all knew this wildflower wedding was the most perfect of days!

A Word from Katie:

Stephanie & Jon, oh my gosh you guys, we did it! I was so thrilled and grateful to get to work with you both for your amazing wildflower wedding. It was a joy getting to know you both and I couldn’t be happier for you! Best wishes and huge congratulations!!

-Katie
