We’ve said it once and we’ll say it a thousand times more; the absolute best part of eloping is creating a day that is uniquely you. This can present itself in as many ways as you can imagine it, from an intimate wedding affair by a sparkling lake to a romantic mountain elopement in the snow. The only “right” way to plan your day is the way that feels authentic to who you are as a couple.
Here at An Epic Elopement, our signature service is customizing your elopement to you! We do that by crafting a one-of-a-kind adventure while you exchange your nuptials. After all, isn’t getting married to the love of your life an adventure in and of itself? Much like love can carry a different meaning to all those who define it, so too can the word "adventure!"
In helping to define the meaning of adventure to our couples, we’ve ventured from frolicking in meadows to climbing cliffs in national parks. With our home base in Montana, an adventure we love to share with our couples is the chance for a mountain elopement. Take that and elevate it to a mountain elopement at Montana Treehouse Retreat, and we are in heaven!
For today’s latest adventure, we’re going to take you through Anna and Bradley’s epic mountain elopement at Montana Treehouse Retreat, which they brought to a close by skiing off into the sunset together at Whitefish Mountain Resort.
Making a Statement with Simple Decor
When it came to choosing decor elements for their elopement, Anna and Brad knew they wanted to keep things simple and let the astounding views of their venue and their love for one another be the stars of the show.
This is certainly one of the many advantages of choosing an outdoor venue with breathtaking surroundings to host your vows. When you choose a venue that’s plentiful in natural elements and photo-worthy spots, decor becomes an easy choice. It allows you the opportunity to choose simple elements to complement the area rather than decorate from the ground up!
Anna and Brad decided to go with minimalistic classic red rose floral to make a statement against the stark white snowy mountain surroundings. Coupled with red napkins, sheer white draped linens, and natural wooden elements such as their cake stand, the contrast between their simple yet eye-catching set-up made for extraordinary details on their big day.
After they tied the knot on their mountain elopement day, they had a beautiful (and delicious!) cake and champagne celebration, right there amongst the forest trees and snow. Then, they headed off to an epically FUN and unique adventure! Keep reading to find out what it was!
Mountain Elopement at Montana Treehouse Retreat
Next, we couldn’t share about Anna and Brad’s epic mountain elopement without gushing over their magical choice of venue, Meadowlark Treehouse at Montana Treehouse Retreat! Located on seven acres of land right outside of Whitefish, MT, the Meadowlark Treehouse makes for the dreamiest secluded escape within driving distance to Glacier National Park.
Thanks to the remote location and layout of the treehouse, Anna and Brad were able to get ready separately to allow Anna a grand entrance down the wooden spiral steps to their ceremony site right on the snow!
Choosing the right spot for their mountain elopement helped them to make their other choices around details such as their decor, itinerary, and choice of attire! They each wore the perfect medley of traditional wedding sophistication with cozy winter gear for their charming elopement. We loved the blend of Anna's wedding dress with her quaint cardigan paired Brad's with suit set and charming sweater!
Many times when it comes to selecting wedding and elopement venues, most couples don’t realize that just about any spot or idea near and dear to your hearts can be utilized as your dream elopement venue! Your mountain elopement can be everything you dream of and more by making the choices that make you both feel your most genuine selves.
Hitting the Slopes
Anna and Brad showed us a whole new meaning to the phrase “riding off into the sunset”! Once they exchanged rings and vows, they couldn’t wait to don their puffy jackets and skis to hit the slopes. Sharing their passion for skiing with one another and our team helped to capture the most epic adventure shots to end their mountain elopement right!
When we asked Anna for her favorite part of their wedding day, without a doubt she chose the moment they were able to put on their gear and feel most like themselves doing what they love. To make matters even more special, spectators on the mountain congratulated and cheered them on as they shredded down the mountain, wedding dress, suit, and all! Talk about feeling like a million bucks on your big day!
As John Muir once said, “the mountains are calling, and I must go”. I wonder if he imagined they would call for a mountain elopement as legendary as this one?!
A Word from Katie
Anna and Brad, I am beyond words when it comes to describing how phenomenal it was to be a part of your mountain elopement. Not only was it authentic to who you both are, but the day was so incredibly fun and exciting to plan and execute! Congratulations on your journey as newlyweds, and I hope you both never stop creating epic adventures together!
